Condition and timing are important. If you found one for $250 - it would be a great deal. If you found one for $1000 there may be a buyer. Those are the extremes I have seen
My guess - Not knowing the condition $350 - $550 is likely. But I would need to see it. The K-60 - In my opinion, Is one of the best collector boxes. I own it and it is a great box. There are boxes that are rarer and more valuable, but none with the style and charm of the K-60. They come up a couple of times a year. The bases are much more difficult to find, and they are not nearly as interesting, but carry a similar value because people want them to match the K-60 they own.
Opinions are valuable and the fact is there is no one answer. It depends on who is buying and selling, but I have a slightly different opinion on repainting a box. If there is rust, and you want to stop the rust, or if there are a lot of problems - striping and repainting will help the box. I have one box where I had a new panel welding in due to rust - It is an obvious refinishing deal. If there are decals, and they are readable - don't refinish it - you will never be able to replace these. If it is usable - with most of the paint on it, I would leave it.
The other way of thinking is this: It is your box and you can do what you like. The analogy is with a classic car. Is it better to "rod" it or restore it? I like restored but there are a lot of gorgeous cars that have heavy mods. Certainly a 100% powder coated Red K-60 without a dent in it would be a great box to own too. You really get into personal taste on the refinishing.
