k260 special edition? when did they start se's

Post by hrods66 »

Greetings tool hoarders. I am new to this forum and hoping someone can help me out here. I recently came across a k260 top and bottom set. Great retro look and i been looking for one for awhile. Question is it has a couple Buick v8 emblems. I am wondering if snap on did limited addition boxes back that far. If these arnt factory added than some one a very long time ago did a great job mounting them cause it looks factory. any thoughts

welcome. is this the set that was just on the bay? were you the seller or did you buy them from him? anyway I do not believe it came from snap on with the emblems on it. I suspect the owner istalled them.

Yes this is the ebay box..I would probably buy it for his current price...its still a bit much but I want one for my vintage tool collection and there hard to find in decesnt shape. Unfortunatly its across country and shipping is a big cost issue. As far as the question i asked about if its a limited addition I answered my own question by researching from a different angle. Buick didnt come out with there nail head v8 untill 49. It was a straight 8 until then. This box is listed as a 38 but I think its a 42. Either way the emblems are not factory. Apparently the estate owner was a buick tech for 40 years. Thanks for the response.

Hi there, i seen that when it was at $2750 then it went to $2000 now its at $1750, im from the uk and i have the k260 plus alot of other snap on things and its a very nice looking toolbox i dont think you have knowtist but it doesnt have a lock, no hole so i thought maybe it was issued to a buick dealer as a lock might not be wanted? My box is grey wrinkle finish parts of it are a bit rough to be honest appart from my bottom box inside is mint. I fanced the buick box i offered him $2000 but it would take me a few weeks to get the money this was 2 weeks ago and he turned me down but it was already reduced to $1995 so what hes thinking i dont know but good luck to him. If you find my k60 on this site on questions about snap on 2 pages in, i paid £721 which is about $1100 on ebay but that was already in the uk from the war, vintage stuff here is ALOT but i got my k200 for £300 about $500-600, but had to travel 600 miles for it worth it for that price though but these boxes seem very cheap in the USA compairing on the condition of mine but thats because there VERY hard to get here.

I took a look at your k260 you have pictured. It looks like a military box. Great piece of history and a cool box..thats twice the find in my book. I m not sure what the sellers deal on ebay is either. I asked him for some specifics on the box so I could figure out shipping. He asked for my zip and said he would get back to me with a quote. That was 2 days ago. I guess he doesnt like to respond to serious offers. He did tell me he is selling it for a friend who is selling off his fathers estate, the father was retired buick tech. Thats why I was hoping it would be a snap on special dealer edition. But as I said before the buick v8 came out later. One of these days I will get my hands on one of these because I love the design. It can sit next to my wurlitzer juke box and my vintage coke machine...oh ya havent found either one of those yet either but hey at least I have a vision lol

Well both of my boxes when i was collecting them i passed old US millitary bases so there we go haha one down south and one in the mid country. i know he took about the same to reply to me, wow your into same things haha my dads got an 1948 ami juke box and a 1947 rock-ola we are doing a room at home for all this stuff, we have classic cars to, we want to get a vintage petrol pump to but there just as expensive arnt they not thought about a coke machine yet! I think you might like my 1920s cabinet you sound like you might go on questions about snap on first item its one of them things it looks good in the room with other items.

Yeah i saw that hoping it was you :) i was thinking the exact same price as you though since its not been selling, the person who bid only has 19 feedback that usually means troublesome ebayer :D might yet get your chance.
