Finally identified the old box. It's a KC 515 from 1970. It's painted, and now I need to find an emblem and get some new slides!

Not all Snap-On Boxes are stamped on the back. I have a KR - 56 made in 1954 that is stamped in the lower left hand corner of the left side (facing) of the box.
