Hello,
My neighbor ran heavy equipment crews for years, and about 35 years ago he acquired this Snap On Giant Drive ratchet set for field repairs. He was told when he bought the set that it came from the tool room on a World War II ship that was being scrapped. He has been retired for years now and doesn't have any need for a ratchet set this large (the sockets range from 3 1/8 in to 1 7/16). He asked me to help him sell it, and I am hoping that members of this community can help me figure out what it is worth. I will likely post it on eBay to sell it, but I'm not sure about the right price point because I can't find any of these for sale anywhere else.
Any advice that all of you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Snap On Giant Drive Set
If you bought that set today it would cost $2500ish, maybe a bit more.
So it has value to a user based on that price.
It's a bit large and expensive to appeal to collectors.
well, actually all of us here would love it, but it's too much $$ and space for most of us.
so the market is prolly an industrial or heavy equipment guy who has to buy it for work.
If you get too close to the 'new' price, he will just get a new one with a warranty and time payments from his snap-on guy.
maybe , if you sell the items separately you will get you most $$, but a it's bit of work.
you might get $500-750 for the set, but maybe $1000, if you piece it out.
dont forget the box has some value too, it fits several other sets.
Then again I could be waaaay off .
Anyone else have an opinion??

And if you can document the battleship connection it will help the sale quite a bit.
