1972 KRA 300C Rolla-Bench help

Post by 01Wrangler »

Hello all,

I recently picked up, according to the stamp on the back of the box, a 1972 KRA-300c. Every time I look this up I only find 300b and 300d. I was wondering if anyone knew about where to get a new drawer, not brand new but i am currently missing one of the drawers in the middle. Im sure someone on here knows of a secret stash of parts. Also any information on these boxes would be great, I am in the process of doing a full restoration on it. One more thing.. Has anyone had experience with upgrading the drawer slides on them. I would like to go to the new style ballbearing slides, im going for the retro look but full modern functionality. Any and all knowledge is more then I have now... Thanks in advance!

Parts are virtually impossible to find especially drawers unless you can find someone that is scrapping one out. A,B, or C usually were small changes in production but not any major changes in overall design. Do not attempt to put ball bearing slides in they will not fit because they are thicker than the friction slides. The only way it could be done is to rebuild the drawers to make them narrower.

Take a browse through the catalogs.
The more modern style after about 1959 were wider and deeper.
Look in the modern tools forum, posted some pictures of the original style and the modern ones, like yours.
Parts come only from scrapped carcasses, not an open market for them yet.

If you search on here I posted about my 300c missing drawer. Found out the lower ones were optional. Also nothing wrong with the old slides. Clean and lube them they'll be great. Ed

Yeah I know the lower ones are optional, but I am missing one of the middle drawers. I ended up getting new friction slides since the original ones were pretty bent up.
