That is a way cool cabinet! I think the only thing that Snap-On made there are the logo emblems. My opinion is somebody made this from a wonderful tangle of parts cabinets and maybe the bases for old Sun machines. Dang, if it could only talk. A truly cool old cabinet.

New guy here. I posted this 'work station' on another site last week to try and determine its origin.
So far no luck, but I'm sure somebody has seen these before. Not for sale but its a neat piece
manufactured almost entirely of 1/8" steel, doors, drawers, dividers, everything. More detail here
starting at post #1191. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/show ... 43&page=60
Any ideas or info would be appreciated.

While I'm here I'll share my 65 vintage KRA 500/510/520 I rescued from the Crane Cams dyno room
and restored.http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/show ... 028&page=2

Hey I just have to ask about the resto on your KRA 500 set. I recently picked one of these collectors up and it's a little rough so I had a few questions on your resto that might apply to mine. If you are still here and / or follow this thread please hit me back - I'd like to have an idea of your costs and what I might be looking at to bring this baby back to her original glory and a few of the quirks I've been encountering. Thanks

The top looks kick-ass! when you painted did you paint the door on or off the top? Did you remove the SS trim or tape it?
If you removed it how did you deal with the blind rivets securing it. I have a wonky piece of trim and need to repair it biut dont want to use some cheap Harbor freight rivets to re secure it when done. any info helps...

Trim was ok so just taped it up. Took off emblems, locks etc. Removed drawers and slides wheels. Fixed up some bent slides, hammered out some dents, welded some holes up someone drilled in it. Sanded to 1200 and painted.

OK then... I think ill have a similar situation on my top box - a fairly large dent in back that fortunately doesnt interfere with anything.
One drawer pull is bent so theres that and it looks like I'll be exploring new ground with these rivets.

Dent doesnt interfere

But blind rivets are a mystery so far

The wonky SS trim that needs to come off for repair - hence the rivet question...

The rest should be fairly straightforward - though again my first real forray into body & paint on a detailed scale.

Thanks for the tips they all help -

BTW previous owner had FILLED all slides and rails with Baby Poo brown bearing grease so clean up was the first nightmare along the way ;)
I'll try to keep posted - though this might work better in it's own thread -
i just dont know how to move it.

Man, that cleanup process must have been a nightmare, as you say. I agree, you should probably make a new thread and keep us posted there.
