Difference between Emergency & Govt.

Post by softailgarage »

I have 2 seperate ratchets, 1 1/2" # 71-N date code "E" and a 1/4" Midget M-70 date code "G". I assume that both E & G are related to WWII issue. I'm just curious as to what designates an E code vs. G code.

According to the charts 44 and 45, but I doubt this is a exact number. I am thinking the E code started in 43, since there are very few true 43 codes that show up. Also, the E G codes can't be all military issued, there are cats and ads for other than military use during this time. Rosie had to get her tools somewhere.
