K55R early '40s most likely. I always look at the '39 and '48 catalog's first, and zero in from there

Not original, painted something other than cardinal red, it won't command a high value like some other vintage boxes. Keep it, enjoy it, to you, it's worth what you paid for it, to others, not so much.
