I just wandered over from the GJ forum. I am sure there are a lot of mutual members. Great forum you have here. I have questions about a vintage set I have shown here. It is very similar to the set pictured on page 36 of the 1953 Snap-On catalog here on this forum. However, my set has 2 of the 2 inch extensions (it looks like I am missing the 6 inch and someone replaced it with another 2 inch) as well as having 10 six point and 2 eight point sockets as opposed to the 9 and 3, respectively, that are shown in that catalog set. Some of the part numbers on the tools are slightly different as well. Either way, I would like to know the rarity and value of this set. Is it worth more as a set or if it was broken up and sold individually? Thanks in advance for all information and responses.

There is a date code sheet posted on the main collectingsnapon site, so check it out to see what the dates on the tools are. They maybe differant than the box, which looks like late 40s to very early 50s. This would tell you as if you should break up the set to sell, as many buyers would want the tools to be matched to the box.

Thanks very much Snapmom. The codes are almost all 1962 with a few 1963. Here are a couple of pictures of the top of the box. Any idea on value and the best place to sell it?

Well I was wrong on the age of the box, it will match the tools, (due to the logo) ebay would be your best bet, hard to tell the value, would say 50-100.

Thanks again Snapmom. I am hoping for more like $150 but we will see how it goes. One thing of interest though, is that the ratchet is a TM70 without an A or B designation which makes it a 1960 ratchet according to the resources here. Take care.

EDIT: I just realized that although there is no A or B designation on the ratchet, it has the Z date code as well (at the selector lever) making it a 1962. Thanks again for the help.
