I was looking through my father's old tools and found a 1/4 ratchet GM-70-M ratchet with a 1963 date code ( a 3 or a reverse E) it has the older style handle . Is that strange?
Thank you

Is there a date code, between the on/off behind the selector.

The "E" most likely means it was industrial /military. Non warranty.

when the E is stamped on the handle it was a factory rebuilt unit in the exchange program - the dealers would pay a small fee to Snap-on and rather than spend the time to rebuild ratchets on the truck we would just exchange with the customer and send the old ratchet back. It was a short lived program like a couple of years if my memory is correct.

I was going off what an old dealer told me about 20 years ago. He wouldn't touch them.
