I was given my dad's Snap-on toolbox after my brother passed. I have look for the mark that tells what year it was made to no avail. Can anyone tell me where to look? I think my dad had to buy it between 1925 and 1940. Any information would be appreciated.

The date codes and model numbers did not get stamped until the mid 50s. Can you post a picture using the upload attachment below.

If this is true, then why does this web site have listing of markings dating back to the 1920's for tool boxes? Just asking.

The tools have a single digit mark, shown in the date code chart. The boxes were marked with the two digit number for the year, like 56 for 1956. Post a picture, and we can give you a date range for your box.
Thanks

Post some pictures!
Take a look on the Modern Tools heading.
There are two (2) posts, K5 box and K5 chest.
Square corners are @ 1930 - 1937.
Rounded edges were redcap style, mid 1938 - @ 1945, though I suspect few were sold after 1942, captive friction slides on all the other boxes in production by that time rendered it obsolete. The first K60's were similar, they switched to friction slides in 1940.
