I found it in my inherited box. I took it apart and looks to have never been cleaned. I soaked it in mineral spirits, lubed it in Rem oil. It has a bit of first tooth slip after changing direction, but none after the first swing.

I took the ratchet apart and soaked it in mineral spirits. Then I used 20-50 oil to lubricate and put it back together. It fixed the skipping at least temporally. The inside ring has tooth impressions where the sprocket wheel presses from applying torque. Lots of wear, but is still working fine for now. I should have started the thread under repair and restoration.

You probably should call Snap on and get a kit for it. Usually it is free.

I'll give it a try, but I think this has been discontinued for a while. Parts maybe hen's teeth by now.

I looked, there is not a f748 kit listed. there is a f749 kit. But do call, the worst thing that could happen, is they say no. They may trade it out for a new one. But if this has value to you as it was your dads, then your only option may be to buy a rat on ebay and part it out.

Interesting the F749 looks to have the same round head, but is fixed. I'll call and ask if the parts are interchangable.

No matter what that ratchet is guaranteed for life, hand it to your local truck and have them repair it or replace it?
