Hi:
I have recently started restoration on a snap on top box, been in the family from new, was My late fathers old box, not used for over 25 years, long storey, anyway, although the box was very beat up,twisted, riddled with dents, scratches, light rust, holes and heavily overpainted, drawers stuck closed, all kinds of problems, and it was destined for the scrap heap,
So , I have recently left the mechanical game at the moment, working in a different trade,, I have decided to restore, polish clean all my kit, roll cabs etc, which I have done, everything, looking as new, so I thought I will have a go at this poor old box,
thinking it was 1960s, someone told me that the date of manufacture was stamped on the drawer runners,I strip the top box down removing the drawers. runners etc, and the date on the runners is clearly stamped 1947,
I started this project a couple of weeks ago, only able to spend a little bit of time on it, and today I have just finished painting its second coat, and the box after a hugh amount of work looks brand new, very pleased with it,
I have tracked down a replacement side handle for this box, also the new chrome front handle and lock barrel,
I need to find the lid open supports, I can make these, And of corse the Badge, I am not fully sure which type would have been originally on there,
can anyone help me out, I do have photos of the rebuild,
