3/8 Zerk-Alemite Socket

Alemite fittings are for lubricating rotating shafts and bearings. It is a way to pressure grease into tight fits that are impossible to reach directly. These are pin- and button-type fittings that temporarily sealed to match couplings on the end of pressurized grease guns. They were introduced in 1916 and were used in White Army trucks. In 1929 an improved fitting called the Zerk fitting was patented. These are grease fittings with a nipple or Zerk. They match a grease gun fitting

Pretty simple tool it adapts a 3/8 inch ratchet to a reamer. The original stated use was for Buick to ream out door hinges. Obviously quick, but there are tools made for this job that are much better and this trend did not catch on

Allen Head socket

There was a Mr. Allen and an Allen Manufacturing Company in Hartford, CT that promotes the Hex bolt and screw heads and the wrenches to turn them. The female bolt and screw head existed for many years before this company, but they popularized the tool and the name. The Allen Head requires less space (diameter) and can be used in recessed areas. The tolerances are tighter than normal bolts as well. This is more importance in places where weight and limited access space are the norm – In plane and aviation applications
