Hey Group....
I live in the Pacific Northwest and teach shop at the middle school level. I am a vintage fan and collect/restore vintage tools for my program and of course myself. I recently became interested in Snap-on. I have picked up some boxes/chests and need some advise. I've attached a first, (kinda cruddy photo taken with my cell phone) of the top boxes. I thinks they are a KR-420 lower two drawer unit, and a KR-56 (I think) unit. I also attached a photo or two of the K-300 They are in good shape aside from the scratches and minor rust. Are they what I I.D'd them as. I also have secured a K-300 rolling chest to pick up later in the month to put these on. I've attached pics. I'll have $350.00 into the lot before any restoration. Was this a good price?

You got a very good deal. I would just clean, correct any dents etc, and oil them.

What I want to do is wash them with a good degreaser and dry them out well. I'll have my students help with this. Then I'll just touch up paint the bare metal parts with a small paint brush and some primer and (close as I can to the red) paint. It may look spotty, but it wont rust. Is this the best way to treat these or just wash and oil as Snapmom recommends?
Also, how easy is it to get the locking mechanisms repaired?
