While restoring a 1963 KRA-300B, I found that many of the original drawer slides were bent or damaged, and I got some replacements from Snap-on. Apparently the original slides aren't produced under the original part number, but there are superseding numbers for the replacements. (The small 8-2147 was replaced by 8-1957, and the large 8-753 was replaced by 8-767.)
However, when I started to fit drawers using the new slides, I found that it had become extremely difficult to move them, to the point where I'd have to brace the box with my foot to keep it from rolling. It seems that these friction slides are slightly wider than the original ones, meaning the drawers are getting squeezed. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

Re: Replacement friction slides cause drawers to bind?
Hi Colin,
Not sure what the dimensions are of the slide runners, but the trick I have used is using a 1/8 Cold-Rolled Weldable Steel Metal Round and pressing into runner (I used visegrips). I did this on both the runners in cabinet and on the drawers. Result, smooth gliding drawers, of course with new slides.
Hope this helps, Good luck
