Do you guys in America now get Chinese made rubbish?
I wanted to buy a Snap On metal box for my 3/4 drive socket set and the box arrived from my local dealer and it had made in China written on the cardboard box. I remember when I bought my Snap On metal box for my 1" drive socket set 10 years ago it was stamped on the box the model number and on top was the name Snap On pressed in big letters. This new box has no markings at all! Is this what you are getting in the USA?

I did return it thanks. I was able to get a nice one on ebay! It's a shame that it has gone this way as l think the quality was superb when it was made in America. ..

Snap On following the Sears Crapsman business model
I am in the USA and have been buying Snap On since 1982. I had 2 old school CT4 circuit testers I gave to my dealer to warranty replace. He said they were discontinued and to return to Snap On Corporate which I did. I received my new Snap On replacements with a different part number EECT3HL (I knew they were going to replace with a similar model) and as soon as i saw the box I knew that it was made in china garbage. Sure enough a quick look on the box (with a magnifying glass) says Made in South Korea (may as well be china). WHAT A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT! Look and feel like Harbor Freight or flea market $1 tools! I called Snap On and told them I wanted to send these back and want my original MADE IN USA tools returned to me. After being put on hold for several minutes I was told that my original tools were immediately destroyed when they receive them and I was stuck with my new replacements. One interesting thing I noticed while listening to their hold music is that they made little effort to talk about the actual tools but spoke about making quarterly dividend payments to their share holders as well as other "investment" based comments yet little to no talk geared to the actual technician or end user of their tools. For you guys outside the States, over the decades we have had several first rate tool companies which professional mechanics used along with Snap On. MAC, Cornwall, Proto, SK, Craftsman, Kobalt, Husky, are ones I'm familiar with and can name without Google searching. I'm sure there are more in different regions of the US as well as other brands that were in use before I became a tool buyer in the 80s and the Snap On guy was called a "Dealer"
Almost ALL were considered to be the best quality, it just depended on what brand your local store carried. Unfortunately over the years they were gobbled up by larger corporations and SLOWLY over time, the quality they were originally known for was reduced in a way that only long time users would notice the difference. By that time i guess the company assumed they were phasing out the user due to retirement or age and the new guys would be brand loyal because they recognized the name and not necessarily the tool. I grew up with Snap On and still have my dads (who was a lifelong mechanic) Snap On tools.
MAC and Cornwall are both still selling like Snap On via "franchisees"
Proto was bought by Stanley and is now basically homeowner grade tools.
SK is sold at automotive suppliers but the number of places that actually carry them has drastically dwindled down. I used to have 8 local stores that carries SK, now only 1 that I know of.
Kobalt is sold through Lowes.
Husky is now Home Depots brand.
Craftsman was still sold by Sears and K-Mart and I recently saw them at Lowes. Sears just filed for bankruptcy.
I told the Snap On phone rep that I was noticing that Snap On apparently was following the Sears model and making the new tools in china and offering NO replacement for MANU of their older part numbers so then the tool eventually needed replacement there was NO replacement thereby letting them off the hook for "Lifetime Replacement"
Sadly she had no response and us technicians are S.O.L when it comes to getting USA replacements.
CALL Snap On and DEMAND better quality tools or you will continue to see them morph into Crap On tools just as Craftsman turned into Crapssman.

Unfortunately now alot of snap on is chinese. The sockets, if notice , say usa, not "made in usa". Still good tools and service though. I try to get older stuff now when I need it, but I have noticed the newer stuff cracks easier.
