Codes

Post by DonG »

Hi, I have a set of 7/8 sockets and a 5/8 set. I am going to be selling them but first want to identify them. The 7/8 set has a date code of "-7". that doesn't correspond to any of the date codes on the chart. Is that the same as "7"?

The 5/8 set doesn't have a date code but has an "S" superimposed over an "O". What does that signify? Also, in addition to the fraction it has a decimal designation. What is that?

Thanks for your help.

Hi, a photo would help

Just a guess, the S and O are early branding and are not dates. The "7" may be a date. Early on the warranty was a year. The tools were stamped when sold to help with the warranty. So a "7" stamped into a tool may be a sales date and not a manufacture date

Pictures would help me ( us) give you a better answer

the -7 is 1927. S over O is pre 1925 or so.
