Resto project

Post by dodgepu1946 »

Doing some research on a possible resto/repaint of this box. Top is KRA 61B middle KRA461 bottom KRA300D and side KR274

I've yet to locate a replacement drawer but I moved them around and have a small storage space at the bottom now. I haven't figured out how to remove the roller door yet. It looks like the channels are riveted on. I also haven't figured out how to safely remove the snap on badge from the side cabinet. The right clip is inside the center channel.
I did figure out how to remove the lock from the bottom. Its easy once you remove the handle from the roller door. However now I've run into this. The middle side and bottom all appear to use the same depth lock while the top is about 1/2 that. So I was thinking I'd buy a matching set of 4 new locks from snapon but I'm not convinced they will work in the top box. Thoughts?

Update! I was just doing some looking around and found my box in the 1971 catalog. Turns out I'm not really missing a drawer! This box came standard with 8 drawers(3 little ones and 5 full width). Then there was an optional 3 drawer set or an optional deep accessory drawer. So I have the standard box with 1 optional deep drawer. I'd still like to find another drawer to fill that space but its still nice to know the why

Where are you getting the paint for your project? I found a website that sells gloss red that is compatible with Snap-on's red paint, but I'm not sure where else to look. The site that I found was http://www.mytouchuppaint.com, did you find yours elsewhere?
